“Hotel Genevieve is not just a place to rest your head, but a culinary destination, too…”

AD – THE 20 BEST NEW DESIGN HOTELS OPENING AROUND WORLD IN 2023

In a 1947 building that originally housed apartments, the hotel will valorize original architectural details like encasement windows, encaustic tile floors, wainscoting, and stained glass, while adding clean-lined furnishings, textiles, and decor by local makers, as well as color-blocked walls and plants.

I TOOK A COSMOTRIP TO AUSTIN, AND IT WAS THE MOST CHILL AND FUN VACAY EVER

There are four locations of this popular café spread across the city, the most visited being the one on South Congress, as the famous “I Love You So Much” mural is painted on the side of the building. I started one of my days by hitting up the downtown location, in the Second Street District, where I gobbled up a couple breakfast tacos and got my caffeine fix with a fancy iced coffee.

VOGUE – WHERE TO GO IN TODOS SANTOS, MEXICO FOR A TRANQUIL BEACH GETAWAY

Perched on a fishing beach called Punta Lobos about 15 minutes south of town is the 32-room Hotel San Cristóbal from the Texas-based Bunkhouse Group, where every single element—from swirly tiled floors to brightly woven blankets and terra-cotta-potted cacti—has been painstakingly executed for maximum sensory enjoyment.

CONDÉ NAST TRAVELER – REVIEW: THE PHOENIX HOTEL

This 1950s motor lodge has been a magnet for the cool crowd ever since it served as a hangout for classic rock bands playing at The Fillmore. Now Phoenix Hotel boasts a reincarnated glory, as an uber-hip, casual, mid-century lodge in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood.

WALL STREET JOURNAL – ’50’S MOTELS GO FROM BLEAK TO CHIC

“Last year, Austin’s Bunkhouse hotel group—no stranger to groovy and highly Instagrammable rehabs of old hotels—reopened the 44-room property, punching up the décor and flaunting its rock ’n’ roll past with a number of unsubtle details, from a wall of vinyl records in the restaurant to a punk-themed gift shop.”

USA TODAY – PLANNING A SPRING BREAK TRIP? A TRAVEL EXPERT SHARES 5 DESTINATIONS TO CONSIDER

Shady Villa Hotel sits less than an hour’s drive from Austin, Texas, in the charming town of Salado. The oldest parts of the hotel date back to the 1950s while the Stagecoach Restaurant, which is the staple dining option in the area, has bones dating back to 1861. Around the area guests can find antique shops, goods made by local artisans, a sculpture garden, brewery and more. The hotel, with lush grounds filled with trees and a variety of plants, works to offer guests a private getaway in a small-town setting.

TEXAS MONTHLY – FIRST LOOK: BUNKHOUSE UNVEILS THE SHADY VILLA HOTEL IN SALADO

The original building, which houses the restaurant, maintains the look and feel of a wooden farmhouse surrounded by gnarled old oak trees. It’s an elegant antique, both well-preserved and creaky. The hotel, on the other hand, comprises several separate structures built in the 1950s that surround a pool and house motel-style rooms with exterior entrances.

ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST – THE 23 MOST BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED MODERN COFFEE SHOPS

This may be a myth, but coffee and treats taste better when prepared and served in a historic spot. In Austin that spot is the Carpenters Local 1266 Union Hall, which was built in 1948 and reopened as the Carpenter Hotel seven decades later. Not only does it boast 93 charming guest rooms, but it’s also home to Carpenter Coffee Bar. Like the rest of the hotel, the all-day lobby café and lounge feature an undeniable Bauhaus influence mixed with that coveted minimalist look.
